New data has revealed that Tottenham are the Premier League’s “strongest” team after giving up more points from a winning position than anyone else.
Ironically, the club has been proven to live up to one of football’s longest-standing stereotypes: Spurs are regularly ridiculed for failing to win trophies despite several impressive challenges in the top flight and the cup.
Since 1992, Spurs have given up a laborious 451 points when leading games, two more than Everton and five more than London rivals Chelsea.
This questionable underbelly has also placed them ahead of the likes of Southampton (437), Aston Villa (428), West Ham (424) and Newcastle (414).
Surprisingly, Arsenal and Liverpool are also at the top of the list. The former lost 372 points despite leading, while the latter lost 365.

Data has now revealed that Tottenham really are the “strongest” team in Premier League history

The reigning champions Manchester City have now given up 289 points.
The last time Tottenham were able to add to their trophy collection was in 2008, when they won the League Cup, now known as the Carabao Cup, after defeating Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.
In total they have won 26 trophies, including two UEFA Cups and eight FA Cups.
However, the last few years have not been particularly good for them, as the semi-final phase of several tournaments often proved to be too far for them.
In fact, they have been eliminated in the FA Cup final no less than four times, while three League Cup final defeats have compounded their misery.
They also missed out on winning the Champions League after losing to Liverpool in the 2019 final as they conceded their first goal just two minutes before the end of the game.

However, Ange Postecoglou is turning the tide at the club with his team getting back on their feet this year
What could be some consolation for Spurs, however, is the fact that they are also the club that have picked up the most points from losing positions in the Premier League.
Similar to their comeback win over Sheffield United, Spurs have gained 427 points from behind, with Manchester United just behind on 426.
Also high in this category are Arsenal (392), Liverpool (390), Chelsea (357) and Everton (326). Holders City has now collected 250 points.
More recently, Ange Postecoglou has guided Spurs to take seven points from losing positions this year, with only Liverpool (nine) having turned over more games.
Brentford are the “strongest” team this season, having dropped six points from winning positions. They are followed by Bournemouth, Sheffield United and West Ham (all five).

Spurs also took most of their points from positional losses as they held off Manchester United
