The main roles are played by Léa Drucker, Samuel Kircher, Olivier Rabourdin and Clotilde Courau. Directed by Catherine Breillat. It is also a remake of the 2019 Danish drama Queen Of Hearts.

Long recognized as a highly prestigious Hollywood affair, the Cannes Film Festival features a carefully curated selection of films for much-anticipated premieres.

However, this year’s 76th annual film festival has drawn criticism for its less-than-exclusive guest list, as social media influencers have invaded the resort town.

Though usually reserved for Hollywood’s elite, a number of influencers, wannabe TV stars, reality TV personalities and models strutted the red carpet.

Hollywood stars like Scarlett Johansson, Natalie Portman and Jennifer Lawrence were all in attendance, but there was also a huge list of influencers.

The guest list, which is usually dominated by movie stars, included Love Island’s Zara McDermott, reality TV presenter Maya Jama, socialite Emma Weymouth and Made In Chelsea’s Kimberley Garner.

Fans at the film festival have spoken out in favor of inviting guests who aren’t showing movie premieres, calling it a “joke” while questioning why influencers are at the “puzzling” event.

One person tweeted outrage: “Dreams of going to Sundance and Cannes but right now it’s like Coachella for movie influencers.”

Another tweeted: “The overwhelming majority of people who visit Cannes are celebrities who don’t even premiere a film at the festival.”

A third wrote, “Most Insta-Influencers attend Cannes this is a joke,” while a fourth opined, “What exactly are Insta-Influencers supposed to ‘give’ at Cannes?”

A fifth wrote, “Don’t know why social media influencers are pushing Cannes though,” and a sixth commented, “Cannes may not be as enigmatic as it used to be.”

While another added: ‘What are Instagram influencers doing in Cannes?’ Isn’t that a film festival?’
