Russell Crowe has opened up about the tragic death of Lisa Marie Presley, saying the star is “way too young” to die at 54.
Speaking to the Australian Today Show on Saturday, the 58-year-old Oscar winner recalled how the couple met while working on Soundstage in Chicago in 2003.
“To be a giant Elvis [Presley] Fan, I kinda just ended up being in the right place to meet her,” Russell said.

Russell, who was married to Danielle Spencer at the time, explained that the couple had a really nice chat, saying she was “really sweet.”
He also described how they later reconnected when Lisa Marie was visiting Australia with her mother, Priscilla.
“I just got a call one night, I was sitting in my office [the Sydney suburb] Woolloomooloo, and I got a call saying, “Hey Russell, this is Lisa Marie. Do you want to go for a drink?” he recalled.

Russell said he immediately grabbed his then-father-in-law Don Spencer and hooked up with Lisa-Marie and Priscilla.
“I actually think Don did really well with Priscilla, he didn’t realize how well he was doing and he kind of got distracted,” Russell said.
He then quipped, “I tell my kids every once in a while, ‘If yours [grandfather] If we had just kept our focus, we could have been related to the Presleys.’
Russell said he met Lisa Marie in 2003, shortly after his award-winning film Gladiator came out and propelled him into a major Hollywood star. He is depicted in Gladiator (2000).

Lisa Marie died from a second cardiac arrest she suffered in the hospital. She died after the family signed a do not resuscitate order on Thursday.
The 54-year-old only child of Elvis and Priscilla Presley was rushed to hospital Thursday morning after she was found collapsed at her home in Calabasas by her housekeeper.
Paramedics who got to her home managed to revive her and she got a pulse again, but she was brain dead on arrival at the hospital, TMZ reported Friday.
The family rushed to her bedside, where she was in an induced coma and on life support. When they learned she was already brain dead, they signed a do not resuscitate order before her second cardiac arrest.
Her mother Priscilla, 77, was at her bedside when she died.
“It is with a heavy heart that I share the devastating news that our beautiful daughter Lisa Marie has left us,” Priscilla said in a statement Thursday night.
