Sam Thompson reveals Adam Collard’s return to Love Island last year was a favorite moment

Sam Thompson has revealed Adam Collard’s return to Love Island last year was one of his favorite moments, as he watched his girlfriend Zara McDermott leave in shock at her ex’s bombshell arrival.

The former Made In Chelsea star, 30, who has been in a relationship with former Islander Zara McDermott, 26, for three years, is a huge fan of the hit ITV2 series.

And just after announcing his latest appearance as the new co-host of the official Love Island podcast alongside Indiyah Polack, Sam looked back on some of his highlights.

Ahead of the January 16 start of the winter series, Sam said he has two standout moments from seasons past.

“There are two – I just love Davide a lot,” Sam said. “The ‘liar’ thing. It’s just iconic. He’s probably my most iconic islander. He was so brilliant just him.

“My other was definitely when Adam Collard showed up and my friend Zara wasn’t looking at the screen…

“Then she sees him appear and yells, ‘Agh!’ He came into the perfect series at the perfect time.

Tease: Watching with Zara last summer, Sam joked: ‘Apparently this man knows how to talk to the ladies. How is he when you flirt with him? What’s he like when you stare into those eyes?’

“I think the last series was my favorite series. It was big drama for all the right reasons.

When Adam Collard joined the show in July last year, Sam went to his Stories to offer live Sunday night thoughts to 1.5million followers.

As the teaser clip unveiled the personal trainer’s return to the show, an excited Sam was smitten with a Villa newcomer before his face was even revealed.

As the camera panned over his muscular physique, Sam exclaimed, “Abs and pecs, abs and pecs… Wow, he jacked one up! Who is this guy… who is this absolute animal… It’s your ex boyfriend! No way!’

Sam then panned the camera to a comically shocked Zara, who screamed as she got up from the sofa.

The stunner laughed as she exclaimed: “No… what, woah!” Zara and Adam met on Love Island in the summer of 2018 and moved in together in Essex shortly after leaving the ITV2 show.

But the relationship didn’t last as former government adviser Zara confirmed their split after eight months together.

A giddy Sam shared his thoughts further, saying: “This is the best series ever,” while Zara added, “I think I have to back down from that comment now.”

Her friend then continued his analysis while pondering what Adam’s “game” would be.

“I’m so excited to see what’s going to happen,” he said. Sam continued, ‘The question is correct…He’s like an alumni…the Lucas of this world…they’re gonna suck…is that going to happen?’

He asked, “How is he going to play it? He’s done it before… brilliantly by the producers.’

‘Brilliant!’ Zara echoed in the background, expressing her approval of the dramatic decision.

Sam then joked, “We’re going to watch your ex-boyfriend every night…watch his fatty abs and pecs…”

He then appeared to suggest getting in touch with the Love Island production team, adding, “I really think the producers listened to my voice memo that I sent and they said… let’s do it… let’s do it fly us Adam cabbage.’

Sam ended his story with, “I can’t wait… You have to do this every season.”

Zara McDermott also admitted her ex Adam Collard is “intense” after being left with her jaw on the floor when Adam was brought into the series through a new twist.

Sam joked while watching with Zara at their London flat: “Apparently this man knows how to talk to the ladies. How is he when you flirt with him? What’s he like when you stare into those eyes?’

An embarrassed Zara replied: “I mean… what do you think? It’s intense.’

“He’s showing his intensity here,” she added as Adam began pulling each of the girls on the show aside for a chat.

“He doesn’t stop looking into your eyes. It’s a small thing he does, she continued, before Sam asked, “Is that it?”

He went on to explain that he’s most looking forward to meeting the islanders himself: “Love Island is the biggest show. I think as a show it’s broken the fourth wall now.

“The viewer now knows so much more about it and that has only made the show better. No other show has done that.”

Speaking of his most recent role, Sam said, “The last time I guest-starred on Aftersun, I just kept talking to the audience. You knew how much I love the show.

“So you’d be screaming, ‘I bet that’s your dream to do that, isn’t it?!’ I was like, ‘It is, it is!’.
