FS1 host and former NFL player Shannon Sharpe was restrained by security after a verbal confrontation with Memphis players at halftime of Friday’s Lakers-Grizzlies game in Los Angeles.

Sharpe was seen chirping with Grizzlies veteran Dillon Brooks as the players headed to the locker rooms. Memphis center Steven Adams appeared to take offense and confronted Sharpe, 54, who refused to back down. Meanwhile, Grizzlies staffers tried in vain to restrain the 6-foot-11, 265-pound Adams.

Even Grizzlies star Ja Morant and his father Tee were involved in the incident.

“You didn’t want that smoke,” Sharpe said ESPN’s Dave McMenamin before returning to his seat for the third quarter. “You talk and jockey all that, and I’m not jockey about that.”

Sharpe blamed Brooks for the incident.

“It started with Dillon Brookls. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F***’ me. I said, ‘F***’ you back.

He came up to me and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere and spoke.

He definitely didn’t want those problems. Then dad came and he obviously didn’t want any problems. But I wanted everything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.’

ESPN announcer and former NBA star Mark Jackson described the incident as the show returned from halftime.

“Steven Adams comes over to protect his man along with his supporting cast,” Jackson said. “Then Shannon Sharpe is still speaking. And Tee Morant, Ja Morant’s father, is coming over. [I] Had a chance to speak to Tee Morant. He said, “My blood pressure hasn’t gone up one bit. Nothing but love and respect for Shannon Sharpe.’

“Just a bunch of guys talking a bunch of crap.”

Play-by-play announcer Mike Breen added, “Just silly that it’s going to be like that here.”

There is a storyline between Sharpe and the Grizzlies, which emerges from comments made by the Pro Football Hall of Famers about the younger Morant on his FS1 show Undisputed.

“The last time the Grizz made a Western Conference Finals, Ja Morant was 13,” Sharpe said last month. “Did I miss something… Bruh, you’re all no good. You’re all not like that. You don’t have Shaq, you don’t have Kobe, you don’t have Tim Duncan.”
