Shocking moment Manchester police officer appears to knock out a Charlton fan

A shocking video appears to show the moment a Charlton fan is punched by a police officer outside Old Trafford.
The man is seen approaching three police officers in the car park just moments after Manchester United won in a dominating 3-0 performance against Charlton around 10pm on Tuesday night.
He is thrown to the ground – apparently unconscious – before another man is arrested by three police officers.
Witnesses said the game’s surveillance was unnecessarily aggressive and that officers did not adequately care for the unconscious man.

The man was pushed to the ground by a police officer and apparently knocked unconscious
A small group of fans appear to be at odds with Greater Manchester Police officers in the car park, which is relatively quiet, footage shows.
A cop gives the Charlton fan a shove and then pushes him to the ground, causing the cops to walk away.
The man remains lying face down on the ground next to a puddle in wet weather, apparently unconscious.
Horrified fans who witnessed the incident can be heard asking, “He’s knocked out, isn’t he?”
Another fan is seen being taken away by three police officers who at one point pin him to the ground before lifting him off the ground.

The apparently unconscious fan was left alone in the parking lot by police officers, witnesses said
A witness to the incident, James, who declined to give his last name, said the incident came “out of the blue” as visiting fans boarded buses home.
James, who filmed the clip, said: “It came out of the blue. All Charlton fans were well behaved, a few minor disturbances like at a football game.
“But the guy who was pushed by the cop didn’t really do anything to deserve the violence that was used on him.”

Another man was pulled down by three police officers after the incident before being led away at the end of the video
James expressed concern that officers had not checked the fan, which was left on the ground in the car park.
“He was just left there. He might still be there now, who knows?
“The officer didn’t even bother to check on his well being and if he was injured he just left with two other officers.”
James added that he felt the treatment of away fans had been aggressive throughout the game.
Another witness, Lee, who watched the incident from his carriage, said they saw a handcuffed man running away from officers.
“We saw a guy, who appeared to have his hands tied behind his back, running away from police who were chasing him.
“He was further caught in the car park and after they wrestled him on the ground he was handled by a man and appeared to receive a hit to the back of the head while lying on the ground.”
Then, according to Lee, the police threw another man to the ground – although there were no physical attacks from the fans.
“As police headed back towards Old Trafford, officers got to the other guy and one of them first pushed him back and then the second time the massive push ended with the fan going down and staying down.
“He didn’t get up for a while and the police left him there, not one officer checked him out, only a few other fans came to his aid after the police left.
“Finally, they made him sit on the floor, where he stayed for a few minutes,” Lee said.
He added that fans were unable to help the unconscious man as the parking lot was fenced off.
He said he hoped the fans “would get some answers from the police about their actions and why, after clearly attacking a fan, they left a fan motionless on the rain-soaked ground and weren’t concerned for his well-being”.
Greater Manchester Police have been contacted for comment on the video.
