Shocking moment: Tourist jumps into Elvis Presley’s swimming pool at Graceland before being thrown out – and his wife hits back at horrified fans: ‘That’s what the swimming pool is for.’

This is the shocking moment a British tourist jumped into the pool at Elvis Presley’s Graceland estate before being taken away – as his wife told angry critics the late singer wouldn’t have wanted him arrested.
The man, identified as Tommy Purcell, ignored signs marking the area as a restricted area, forcing frantic staff to rush in.
Wife Nanny Murphy insisted in a follow-up video that Purcell’s stunt was not a crime and that people were just jealous.
In a July 5 TikTok, Purcell climbed over a low gate with a sign that read “RESTRICTED AREA: No Trespassing” and headed toward the pool, already shirtless.
He tremblingly placed one foot on the diving board, prompting a security guard to run toward him. Before she could reach him, he jumped into the pool wearing shorts and sneakers.

While Purcell doesn’t post much on social media, his new bride has over 20,000 followers on TikTok, where her videos rack up tens of thousands of views
In the following video, Murphy giggled off-camera as a female voice said, “You’re not allowed in there!” You’re not allowed!’
“Are you serious?” Purcell said as he strolled toward the audience.
“Elvis didn’t stop anyone!” said Murphy.
Purcell was then seen walking next to a male security guard who was still shirtless and had wet hair.
“Please make me famous.” “Make me famous,” the security guard said as Murphy pointed the camera at him.
The videos were viewed 14 million and 2 million times respectively.
In another TikTok with the caption, “Yes, I drove on the Elvis driveway,” Murphy filmed Purcell driving his pickup truck up the tree-lined driveway in front of the house.
Even before the video cut off, a security guard could be seen walking towards the car.
The series of videos sparked backlash online, condemning the couple as entitled and reckless.
Murphy highlighted a comment that read, “How is this funny? People are so disrespectful and I hope he got arrested.”
She partially hid her face offscreen while emphasizing that jumping into a pool wasn’t disrespectful.
“Elvis once caught someone jumping into his pool and never stopped them.” “He never had them arrested and told them to stay in the pool,” she said.
“We were escorted because they don’t want anyone else to get the idea of jumping in.” And we weren’t banned, so yeah. How is that disrespectful?’
She added, “By the way, we love Elvis,” and ended the video by accusing the commenter of being “jealous.”

Another employee then led Purcell away. Purcell was still shirtless in the video and was playing with his chlorine-soaked hair
The crooner’s old home in Memphis, Tennessee, was declared a National Historical Landmark in 2006.
In 2023, the cheapest tickets for tours started at just under $80. Attendees could purchase VIP tickets starting at $135.
The couple also visited the Elvis Presley Automobile Museum, where they posed in front of the singer’s cherry red MG car.
It didn’t seem to be her first visit to Graceland. Months before the pool incident, Murphy uploaded a video with the caption “Funeral of Elvis’ daughter.”
She pouted at the camera before panning to the Meditation Garden memorial set up for Lisa Marie Presley, the singer’s only child.
Murphy and Purcell tied the knot in May and held a ceremony at Legacy Castle in Pompton Plains, New Jersey.
The young couple then traveled throughout the Midwest and South, visiting landmarks like the Home Alone House and posing in cowboy hats in Nashville.
While Purcell keeps a low profile online, Murphy posts frequently on TikTok, claiming in one post that she is from the UK.
