Single Sydney woman, 34, says all men her age look like ‘grandpas’ on dating apps
- Selina Chhaur is fed up with dating apps
- Says men her age look like grandfathers
A 34-year-old woman has expressed frustration with dating apps and complained that most men her age or older “look like grandpas”.
Hairstylist Selina Chhaur says she doesn’t mind gray hair or even a receding hairline, but says the situation online is “even worse”.
“I’m not saying this with hate or anything, it’s out of love, but I’m like, ‘Damn sir, the Sydney sun wasn’t good to you,'” she said in a recent TikTok video.
Selina, who failed to find love on the ninth season of Married At First Sight last year, went on to say that many men in Sydney over 34 “look like sultanas”.
“You didn’t use sunscreen,” she added.

Selina has been unlucky in love and is beginning to fear she’ll never find it – but she’s not ready to date men who look decades older.
“I look young for my age,” she said.
“Imagine how weird it would look if I walked here next to Grandpa,” she added.
“People are going to think they’re fucking their mail order bride. That’s going to look pretty fake.”
People were quick to support Selina.
“Girl, I’m 48. Men my age look like corpses,” said one woman.
“Oh, I can understand that! “I’m 35 and everyone who tries to keep up with me looks so old,” said another.
Selina said the men she’s met through the apps lately make her feel like she’s on a “leather couch.”
“I’m 39 and taking care of myself.” “I have no idea why men my age and older let themselves go and still want younger women,” agreed another woman.

Selina thinks she looks a lot younger than she is since she was taking care of herself
“And I’m sorry, but it tends to get worse and worse.” I’m 41 and OMG! “You can’t imagine the sultanas,” laughed another.
Others said they are now choosing younger men after noting that older men in Sydney not only “look rough” but also refuse to settle down.
“It’s like the party has caught up with them but they still refuse to let go,” said one woman.
“It’s true and then they have the audacity to be toxic.” It’s tough out here for us in our mid-30s,” said another woman.

Her tiktok rant went viral, with hundreds of women agreeing that men definitely “look older” than women of the same age
Men said they find the same thing when using the apps.
“I’m 52 and women my age look 70,” said one man.
“Absolutely, but apparently that’s different,” agreed another.
But others said most people look their age and just think they don’t.
“I’ve noticed that people tend not to recognize their age. “I’m 32 and I always think I look younger, but people usually assume I’m 30+,” said one man.
“Our brain needs to recognize that we actually look older than we think.”
“I think you look 35, so I wouldn’t say you look younger — but you’re right, some people definitely look a lot older than their bio would suggest.”
Some women said the “vibe” was similar in Melbourne, LA and New York.
