A man has been charged in connection with the murder of his elderly mother, who died of head injuries in a quiet Cotswolds market town.
Matthew Corry, 45, has been remanded in custody and charged with murdering 84-year-old Beatrice Corry.
Gloucestershire Police, who had been granted a 12-hour extension to interview Corry following his arrest, confirmed he had been charged this afternoon.
He will now appear before Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

Police were called to the High Street in Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds at around 00:30 on Friday 6 January after an elderly woman was found with head injuries.
She later died of her wounds.
Police said a man they knew had been arrested and interrogated on suspicion of murder.
Gloucestershire Police said in a statement today: “A man was charged yesterday in connection with the death of an elderly woman in Chipping Campden.
“Matthew Corry, aged 45 and from the High Street in Chipping Campden, was charged today with the murder of his mother Beatrice Corry.
“Police were called to her home in Chipping Campden at 12.10am yesterday where 84-year-old Beatrice was found with head injuries from which she later died.
Corry has been remanded in custody and is due to appear at Cheltenham Magistrates’ Court on Monday 9 January.
Posts on the village’s local Facebook group, Chipping Campden Notice Board, paid tribute to Ms Corry, who appeared to be well known in the village.
Local residents in the quaint village said they were “shocked” by the killing when police spoke to them yesterday to reassure them after the incident.
Two police cars were parked on the street yesterday while plainclothes cops and uniformed officers spoke to local businesses to alert them to the incident.

An elderly local business owner described the victim as an “absolutely lovely lady who is well known to residents here in the village” and said it was “shocking and extremely sad that she was killed”.
Other local residents expressed shock that the incident happened in such an unlikely location.
Another local resident said: “I didn’t even know about the murder until my sister texted me about it this morning after seeing it on the news.
“I’ve seen people posting about the victim on social media, but no one is saying anything about who she was or what happened.”
Another local business owner said: “Some people seem to know who she was and have posted tributes saying she was ‘such a nice lady’ etc but other than that we only spoke to the police.
“It’s such a shock to Campden, it’s just a terrible shame it was someone she knew. I just feel for the family – we’re quite a tight-knit community.
“My kids went to school here and your only concern is that you might have known the family or even them.”
Another local resident added: “I only heard gossip. It’s just really weird – I think we’ll find out more in a few days.
Police said members of the public can provide information online by filling out the form on their website and citing Incident 8 on January 6.
They added that people with information can also call the police on 101.
