Son is charged with the murder of his father, who worked with him in the family moving business: Grim scenes in the posh Sydney suburb of Berowra Heights as father’s body is found with “serious head injuries”.

A son charged with murdering his father by attacking him and causing serious head injuries made a series of bizarre social media posts before the alleged incident.

Jaiken Fitzpatrick, 38, has been charged over the alleged murder of his father Kenneth, 69, at the family home in Berowra Heights on the northern outskirts of Sydney at around 4.20pm on Thursday.

Emergency services were called to the address where they found Mr Fitzpatrick senior with life-threatening injuries. Despite all efforts, he died at the scene of the accident. The younger man was charged overnight.

According to Daily Mail Australia, both father and son worked for moving company Little Green Truck, which operates around Gosford, coastal New South Wales and north of Sydney.

On Friday morning, police were seen towing a Little Green Truck business vehicle from the family’s home.

According to corporate regulator records, Kenneth canceled the registration of his franchise business in April this year.

However, the franchise was put up for sale a month earlier, in March – and remains on the market.

Jaiken’s lawyer Andrew Scali told Hornsby Magistrates Court on Friday that his client was “extremely distressed” and needed a mental health assessment.

Jaiken was refused bail and his case will be heard in court at a later date.

Unusual posts

The shocking allegations come just weeks after Jaiken shared a series of disturbing posts on social media.

On August 1, the mover, who is into photography, shared a black-and-white photo of himself looking pensive on Facebook.

A friend noticed that he “looked lost” and asked what his problem was. Jaiken replied that he was “lost.”

He didn’t answer when the same friend continued to ask what was wrong.

Two weeks later, he said he had recently considered suicide.

“Yesterday…I came so close to ending my life alone, filled with shame,” the post began.

“Then a voice in my head… Ending my life… It’s selfish since my life can save others.”

“One more breath for you is for me a life worth saving.” Another breath for me is giving myself the opportunity to hold your hand and be heard.

“You are important! You have a voice worth saving!’

A fortnight later, he started an Instagram page dedicated to his photography hobby under the name “beautiful Pain”.

In the series of landscape shots, he posted close-ups of his face with the caption “Without a beautiful death.”

Jaiken’s other online activities suggested that he had a strong bond with his father.

In one post he helped his father by selling a motorcycle in his name, and in another post he talked about going into the garden to help his father cut down trees.

Police will allege Jaiken murdered his father in the family’s brick home while Kenneth’s wife was at work.

Police remained on scene Friday afternoon. Investigators were seen knocking on doors in the neighborhood while officers combed the home.

A family friend told reporters outside the home Friday that the alleged victim was a “nice man.”

Resident George Jankowski said the man killed was “a pretty quiet guy who kept to himself.”

“It was a shock, it was unexpected, especially here, it’s a quiet place,” he said.

“Just hearing a truck driving up and down the road is a big drama, so something like this is a big shock.”
