STEVE HILTON: Adam Schiff is one of the greatest threats to democracy

Republican Congressman George Santos is rightly in the midst of a media and political storm over his amazing string of lies about everything from his career experience to his family history. It certainly won’t be long before this ridiculous fabulist is booted out of public life forever.

But there’s another congressional fabulist whose lies are far more serious and who doesn’t face nearly the same level of scrutiny: Adam Schiff.

Schiff is the Santos of the Democratic Party – only much more dangerous. His deceptions are part of a far-reaching plan by the left-establishment to corrupt big tech and America’s intelligence and law enforcement agencies to serve the Democrats.

All of this has been confirmed by the Twitter files, a series of reports by independent journalists who have been granted exclusive access to the company’s internal communications

Schiff, his party and their media puppets endlessly lecture everyone about “our democracy”. It turns out they were the ones who undermined it.

The Twitter revelations came so thick and fast that Americans barely had time to digest them. As a result, one of the biggest scandals in US history appears to be passing by with no accountability for those responsible.

Until now.

This week, Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy kicked Schiff out of the powerful House Intelligence Committee, which oversees the FBI and other federal agencies and has the ability to look into Americans’ private lives.

Predictably, the mainstream media has labeled Schiff’s downfall as “political revenge.” The New York Times called it “a highly anticipated rebellion”.

Of course they would.

Schiff’s ouster is not only justified, but imperative if the administration is to restore any semblance of trust in the American people after years of deception.

It started in 2016.

This week, Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy kicked Schiff out of the powerful House Intelligence Committee, which oversees the FBI and other federal agencies and has the ability to look into Americans’ private lives.

Thanks to Special Counsel John Durham, we now know that the FBI worked closely with Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign to create a false narrative of “Trump/Russia collusion.” When cracks in the Russia hoax surfaced, Schiff intervened to cover them up.

In 2018, Republican House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes submitted a memo to Congress detailing the FBI’s abuses in creating the Russia collusion narrative. He exposed the agency for repeatedly relying on “politically motivated or questionable sources” to obtain a Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act warrant to spy on Trump’s campaign adviser Carter Page in 2016.

Subsequent investigations by the Inspector General of the Justice Department, as well as the Durham Inquiry, have confirmed the memo to be truthful and accurate. But Schiff tried to block his release.

After initial reports of the memo and before it was released, there were calls for its release — including a viral Twitter hashtag #ReleaseTheMemo.

Schiff immediately claimed that this hashtag was being distributed by “Russian bots and trolls” to “manipulate public opinion.”

In reality, Schiff was the true source of the misinformation.

In Twitter Files, #14, we can see that Twitter investigated the Russia manipulation claims and found them to be 100% false.

Despite being told so, Schiff and other senior Democrats continued to make the claim. Twitter has done nothing to correct the records, and so the mainstream media has simply reinforced incorrect information. Nunes has been discredited and the revelations he made largely ignored.

But Schiff’s nefarious influence did not end there.

The Twitter files have also revealed that he tried to use his authority to force Twitter to censor accounts that mocked President Biden and ban journalists who disliked Schiff.

On Wednesday, former Secretary of State and CIA Director Mike Pompeo said Schiff leaked classified information shared with the Intelligence Committee during the Trump administration. (Schiff’s office has called this allegation “manifestly false and defamatory.”)

Is this really a man that America wants to oversee through the national espionage apparatus?

It all adds up to a crisis – the least of which is Adam Schiff.

Thankfully, his constant lies and caustic misinformation were rewarded with his expulsion from the Intelligence Committee. But now Schiff wants a promotion to US Senator for California. This would be totally unacceptable.

Like fellow Republican fanatic George Santos, Adam Schiff should have no place in our politics.

The real crisis, however, is the attack on our democracy itself.

As Michael Shellenberger reported in Twitter Files #7, throughout 2020 the FBI and other law enforcement agencies have repeatedly primed Twitter’s security chief to dismiss all reports of Hunter Biden’s laptop as a Russian “hack and leak” operation. Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told Joe Rogan that Facebook has received similar warnings.

Both Twitter and Facebook executives later said that US intelligence warnings of a “hack and leak” operation prompted their decision to censor the New York Post when it published the Biden corruption story. And this despite the fact that the FBI itself could not find any evidence of Russian manipulation.

Worse, the FBI knew perfectly well that the laptop was genuine and had nothing to do with Russia – because they themselves had the laptop in their possession! In December 2019, the FBI subpoenaed the laptop from the owner of the computer repair shop where Hunter left it.

How is that possible in America? This is techno-totalitarianism of the kind we thought only existed in China. It is a far greater threat to our way of life than 9/11 and 6 January combined.

Let’s hope that Speaker McCarthy’s punishment of Schiff and a new House committee investigating the “weaponization of the federal government” not only get to the bottom of all this — but make clear and compelling to every American, to what extent their own government has turned against them.
