Musician Tom had opened up about the impact of his undiagnosed condition, writing on his page: “Sneaking towards an ADHD diagnosis. It is highly recommended that you do this to help me, but more likely to help people who have a relationship with me.

“I never realized how problematic object permanence is for me. Staying in touch rarely, if ever, crosses my mind. I can only apologize. x’

To which Sue responded by sharing her own experience and telling him, “I’ve completely holed up. When I had the diagnosis, everything suddenly made sense – for me and those who love me. I wish you all the best on your journey, Tom x.’

Tom went on to thank Sue for her words, with his post drawing on other comments from followers who shared their own journeys with the disease.

ADHD is a mental disorder that affects behavior. People with this condition feel restless, may have trouble concentrating, and may act impulsively.

The exact cause is unknown, but the condition has been shown to run in families.

Most cases are diagnosed in children between the ages of three and seven, but sometimes it is diagnosed later in childhood.

People with ADHD can also have additional problems, such as trouble sleeping and anxiety.

It comes after Sue revealed she was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor in 2015.

The TV presenter didn’t realize she had the condition until she underwent a health screening as part of her show Supersizers.

And in 2021, Sue – who split from ex Anna Richardson that year – reflected on her diagnosis of a pituitary tumor, which may have affected her ability to have children.

Sue told The Mirror: “I don’t know if I would have had children later. But as soon as someone says you can’t have something, you want it more than anything.”

Sue regularly attends hospital exams to monitor the symptoms of her tumor.

“Sometimes it messes with my hormones. I now have various tests to make sure the side effects aren’t too bothersome.’

The comedian told the newspaper: “I’ve been going through a very, very dark time since the tumor started making itself felt. ‘

A benign brain tumor is a mass of noncancerous cells that grows relatively slowly in the brain, according to the NHS.

Sue’s tumor is located on the pituitary gland in her brain, the gland responsible for releasing hormones into the bloodstream.

WHAT IS ADHD?

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a behavioral disorder defined by inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity.

It affects about five percent of children in the US. About 3.6 percent of boys and 0.85 percent of girls suffer from it in the UK.

Symptoms typically appear at an early age and become more apparent as a child grows. This can also include:

  • Constant fidgeting
  • Bad concentration
  • Excessive movement or talking
  • Act without thinking
  • Little or no sense of danger
  • careless mistake
  • forgetfulness
  • Difficulty organizing tasks
  • Inability to listen or carry out instructions

Most cases are diagnosed between the ages of six and 12. Adults can also suffer from it, but there is less research on this.

The exact cause of ADHD is unclear, but it is thought to be due to genetic mutations that affect a person’s brain function and structure.

Premature babies and those with epilepsy or brain damage are at greater risk.

ADHD is also linked to anxiety, depression, insomnia, Tourette’s disease and epilepsy.

There is no cure.

A combination of medication and therapy is usually recommended to relieve symptoms and make everyday life easier.
