SUV crashes into Manhattan Sports Bar after being hit by hit-and-run driver

An SUV sped through the front of a Manhattan restaurant Monday night, injuring 22 people and police searching for a driver who caused the impact.

The incident took place around 9pm on Monday and saw the store front of Inwood Bar & Grill shattered, with debris spraying across the sidewalk and into the restaurant at unsuspecting patrons including three young girls aged 10, 7 and 1 – the eldest of whom may have suffered a broken leg.

Several witnesses saw the accident – which police say took place when a white Audi sedan struck the black Toyota RAV4 – causing the SUV to jump over the curb and hurtle into the store near West 204th Street.

Cops said the Audi then fled the scene, leaving several patrons writhing on the ground in pain. The fugitive driver is wanted by the police.

Police have released scant details about the suspect, aside from the fact that he exited the parking lot of a Citgo gas station down the block from the restaurant before exiting the sport utility vehicle.

They added that the Audi may have contained “several occupants” and that they may have gotten into an unrelated argument before meeting the 32-year-old Uber driver, which resulted in them driving away and accidentally hit the vehicle.

The driver of the Toyota, who was not named, was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said. Three of the 22 other victims refused medical attention after the frightening incident.
