A menacing tornado has devastated the streets of the famous fashion capital of Milan.

Footage shows a fearsome dark gray Twister speeding through the roads between Gessate and Cernusco sul Naviglio.

According to local media sources, the tornado began its tirade of destruction around 11 a.m. local time (10 a.m. GMT).

East of the Lombard city, there were reports of destroyed buildings and damaged trees as heavy rain and winds battered the area.

Firefighters were also called out on more than 110 calls as the city was hit by flooding.
