Thanks to Glitch, players in Overwatch 2 get free golden guns

A strange bug in Overwatch 2 has allowed players to earn a golden weapon for each hero much more easily.

Golden weapons are usually hard to come by. Any player who owns one has invested many hours in Overwatch and Overwatch 2, earned the top spot on the leaderboard, and earned a variety of golden weapon skins.

But a new bug has appeared that made it a bit harder to earn gold weapons, but only if the right conditions are met.

The error was highlighted by a Redditor who visited the site to share a video of himself fighting a Hanzo. After winning the battle, they accidentally received a golden gun.

“Why did my gun turn gold?” the caption read. “Happened to me with another character.”

Other commenters were able to clarify things and confirm the bug by saying that the bug can be replicated under certain conditions.

The Hanzo in the clip had a gold bow, which is a key element of the mistake. Hanzo’s projectiles are also golden, and along with the bow, transfer the golden skin to certain heroes in Overwatch 2. However, the effect only works on certain heroes. Also, the golden guns don’t stick even after the end of the game.

So in the long run, earning your own golden guns is still far better. But at least you can try them out for a short while by using the bug.
