Keane joked that Argentina’s players will be able to dance “for the next 10 years” after winning the cup.

‘He is [Scaloni] on the sidelines he kicks every ball with them, that emotion we’re talking about is vital for this group of players and it brought the emotion across the line,” he said.

“Look what brilliant scenes, it’s just brilliant, dance as much as you want.

“They will be dancing at the hotel tonight, good luck to them, they will be dancing for the next 10 years. That’s if you dance if you win it.’

As world champion players jumped incessantly with their arms raised, Messi and co vented their relief at having won the tournament in extraordinary circumstances.

Argentina clinched their first World Cup since 1986 when superstar captain Lionel Messi finally hoisted the golden trophy to end a career-long wait to crown the world with the South American nation.

Messi scored twice in open play before sacking Argentina’s first penalty in a shoot-out against France when Kylian Mbappe’s impressive World Cup final hat-trick threatened to derail their quest for glory.

The 35-year-old national team hero was visibly emotional after the game and fell to his knees crying before being surrounded by team-mate and former Manchester City striker and good friend Sergio Aguero.

However, Keane was not involved in the celebrations, but caught the spotlight for a moment when viewers commented on his impressive mustache, which he grew for the finale.
