The 10 Most Anticipated PlayStation 5 Exclusive Games Coming in 2023

PlayStation 5 players can look forward to 2023. Here are some of the most anticipated games coming out this year.

Sony had a number of first-party titles on consoles in 2022. From Horizon Forbidden West to God of War Ragnarok, Sony has dominated the scene for the past year. And 2023 is looking even better, with a number of huge titles coming out of PlayStation Studios throughout the year.

Here are 10 of the most anticipated games to look forward to coming to PlayStation 5 in 2023.

As a sequel to the 2018 release of Marvel’s Spider-Man, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, Bryan Intihar and Ryan Smith return as creative directors and game directors, respectively. While little has been announced about this upcoming sequel, the game is set to release for the PlayStation 5 in Fall 2023.

Square Enix’s tentpole franchise is getting its next installment later this year. Produced by Final Fantasy XIV’s Naoki Yoshida, Final Fantasy XVI follows the story of Clive Rosfield in pursuit of the sinister Eikon Ifrit after the destruction of his home kingdom. The game is slated for release on June 22, 2023 for PlayStation 5.

Forspoken, a brand new IP from Square Enix developed by Luminous Productions, introduces us to the story of Frey Holland, transported from New York City to the fantasy world of Athia. Armed with new magical powers, Frey Athia must survive under the tyrannical rule of the tantas and find her way home. Forspoken is slated for release on PlayStation 5 and PC on January 24th.

Call of the Mountain, a new adventure set in the Horizon world, will debut on PSVR 2 and follows Ryas, a disgraced ex-soldier. The game will feature new and old characters, including Aloy, throughout his adventure. The game will be released for PSVR 2 on February 22, 2023.

Silent Hill 2 is a remake of the legendary survival horror game of the same name and is being developed by Bloober Team under the watchful eye of Konami. The remake was announced by Konami in October 2022 and while no release date has been announced yet, it will be heading to the PlayStation 5.

Announced during The Game Awards 2022, Death Stranding 2 (working title) is another ambitious project from Kojima Productions. Like the first, the game will feature Norman Reedus and Léa Seydoux, among others, although their roles have yet to be defined. A release date for the game has yet to be announced, but it will be released on PlayStation 5.

The second installment in Square Enix’s Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy, Rebirth, is slated for release in Winter 2023. The game will tie in with the extended retelling of Final Fantasy VII Remake and likely continue the story of Cloud and Co. after leaving Midgar.

Stellar Blade, officially known as Project Eve, is an upcoming action game from Shift Up Corp that casts players as Eve on an extinct earth on her journey to save Earth and protect the surviving citizens of Xion. Stellar Blade doesn’t have a release date, but the game will come to PlayStation 5.

The Dark Pictures: Switchback, a spin-off from The Dark Pictures Anthology, is an upcoming rail shooter developed and published by Supermassive Games for PlayStation VR2. This horror shooter will feature locations from the four games from The Dark Pictures’ first season, including Little Hope.

Though little has been revealed about the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine by Insomniac Games, the brief teaser caught fans’ attention. The game doesn’t have a release date yet, but it’s currently in development for the PlayStation 5.
