As her last wish, a woman donated her beachfront home to the RSPCA – earning them a staggering $2.7 million in cash.
The deceased’s home at 28 Arthur St, next to Mermaid Beach, was donated to the animal welfare organization by its previous owner, a woman who bought the home in 1983 for $79,950.
His sale was the highlight of last Saturday’s Ray White Burleigh Group summer auction event.
“This is a great result for the charity,” Tiger Malan, CEO of Ray White Burleigh Group, told Realestate.com.
“It actually sold for $450,000 over reserve – that’s 20 percent above expectations.”

A house 200m from Mermaid Beach on the Gold Coast has sold for $2.7 million with the proceeds being donated to the RSPCA (pictured is a map marking the house).

The house (above) was sold at Ray White Burleigh Group’s summer auction event on Saturday, with realtors saying the house was likely to be demolished
Mr Malan said the house would most likely be demolished, with the biggest selling point of the 405m² plot being its 200m from the beach.
A total of $30 million worth of properties were sold during the weekend’s auction, with 26 lots up for grabs.
More than 10 objects are still under negotiation.
Mr Malan said the participation of 300 auctions showed there was still a strong market for coastal homes.
“The region is bucking the Australian property downturn trend, particularly when it comes to prestige properties in these beachfront locations,” he said.
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to RSPCA for comment.
