The first photo of Jorginho in an Arsenal shirt was published on his agent’s Instagram account.

The Italian was the subject of a deadline-day move from Chelsea to London rivals Arsenal in a £12m deal, with Gunners fans getting their first glimpse of their potential new man in a leaked photo.

The former Blues vice-captain’s move to north London has been controversial. Some fans were disappointed their side missed out on Moises Caicedo, while pundits claim the move can only give Arsenal a boost.

Jorginho was pictured in his new colors alongside his agent Joao Santos, with the image later leaked on a deadline where his move has become one of the stories of the window.

The Brazilian-born midfielder has been signed to strengthen his new club’s midfield, with Granit Xhaka and Thomas Partey proving a fruitful partnership in the club’s unexpected title challenge this season.

Although the pair have remained largely injury-free this season, substitute Mohamed Elneny has been sidelined for the foreseeable future with a knee problem.

The Ghanaian midfielder also injured his ribs in the 1-0 defeat by Manchester City and was duly substituted at half-time, but is expected to be available for Saturday’s clash with Everton.

Jorginho had six months left on his Chelsea contract but the Gunners were keen to bring him to the Emirates now rather than wait until the summer with few options at the club.

It was believed that no deal was discussed with Jorginho to keep him at the club from former side Chelsea.

With the Blues, Jorginho won the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup and beat Arsenal to the Europa League title in 2018/19

Arsenal had turned down several offers for Brighton’s sought-after Ecuadorian midfielder Caicedo before switching for the Italian on a deal that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2024.
