Model Ivana Knoll bids farewell to the World Cup and celebrates her newfound fame that has placed her on a similar scale to the stars of the Croatian team.

The Instagram star now has 3.1 million followers and while in Qatar she once amassed 200,000 followers a day.

Heading to the game against Croatia and Morocco today, she told Mailonline: ‘The number of people around the world who like me is almost equal to the population of my country.

“The World Cup was amazing and I’m sad that it’s almost over.

The model’s online following grew rapidly during the tournament. She now has 3.2 million Instagram followers

The patriotic model has been pictured in outfits in Croatia’s red and white colors throughout the World Cup

“Regarding my Instagram account, I never dreamed that this could happen to me.

“I came here with 570,000 followers, now I have 3.2 million and that makes me smile.

“That’s almost the same number as my country’s population.”

She was bullied wherever she ventured into soccer stadiums for the World Cup, as fans demanded selfies and hugged her.

Ivana has received proposals from eager fans and is regularly asked for selfies when she’s out and about

The Croatian fan said she was very proud of the football team. “At the last World Cup we were finalists and runners-up and now we’re in the top four teams in the world and today we’re playing for bronze.”

Ivana has also received marriage proposals from fans and messages from some of the football stars themselves.

Wearing a blue Croatia football shirt, shorts and blue thigh-highs, Ivana, 26, added: “I’m very proud of my team.

“We are such a small country but with huge successes.

“At the last World Cup we were finalists and runners-up and now we’re in the top four teams in the world and today we’re playing for bronze.”

The model, dressed in a blue Croatia soccer jersey, cheered on the team in Saturday afternoon’s third-place playoff against Morocco

On Friday, Qatar invited her to dinner but she had to shed her skimpy outfits and show up in a red over-the-knee gown

Laughing, she added: “And they have the most famous fan. I’m looking forward to my future and I’m glad I also have fans around the world and in Croatia.”

Ivana, who splits her time between Zagreb and Miami, has been front pages in her home country and has been welcomed to events by FIFA after appearing on stadium screens during matches.

She admitted she was concerned about not complying with Qatar’s strict dress code and inevitably suffered internet trolling and abuse.
