The Labor government slammed a $150,000 spending spree on events and hospitality in three months

The federal government has spent more than $150,000 on events in just three months, leaving taxpayers footing the hefty bill.
Between June and August, more than $10,000 was spent on morning teas to introduce ministers to department staff.
These events were held for Secretary of State Penny Wong, Secretary of Health Mark Butler, Secretary of Care for the Elderly Annika Wells, Attorney General Mark Dreyfus and Secretary of the Arts Tony Burke.

The Albanian government has spent more than $150,000 on events and hospitality in three months to “introduce itself”.

Agriculture Secretary Murray Watt’s department spent more than $40,000 on a conference for its staff, with more than $15,000 spent on food and alcohol, The Daily Telegraph reported.
Mr. Burke also did well on the money, spending nearly $40,000 on 14 town hall meetings featuring “artists and workers in the arts, entertainment and culture sectors” alongside Susan Templeman.
Ms Wong has been busy welcoming advocacy groups and returning $29,784 to taxpayers.
Their events included a “networking brunch” in Kuala Lumpur costing nearly $7,000 and a reception for provincial politicians in Malaysia costing $5,846.
She also hosted a $6,735 cocktail party for foreign diplomats and various get-togethers and events, each raising more than a thousand dollars.

Communications Secretary Michelle Rowland spent $13,234.50 on a reception, which included over $4,000 in appetizers and over $3,000 in alcohol.
Mr. Butler spent $16,568.30 on a healthcare worker event where he welcomed doctors and healthcare professionals.
Guests included 11 officials and four of the minister’s staff.
Shadow Attorney General Michaelia Cash compared the cash spatter to that of the Gough Whitlam government.

A spokesman for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government was following all rules and guidelines and spending was reasonable
“It looks like the Albanian government is living in the best traditions of Labor governments, dating back to the Whitlam era,” she said.
“The government talks a big game about being sound business executives, but that kind of spending on cocktail parties, events and conferences shows what they’re really like.”
A spokesman for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said the government was following all rules and guidelines and spending was reasonable.
“These are not unusual events, especially for a new government,” he said.
