The Queen of Bhutan is stunning in new portraits released to mark her 33rd birthday

Bhutan released two new portraits of its glamorous queen to mark her 33rd birthday.

Jetsun Pema, wife of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck will celebrate her birthday with her family.

To mark the occasion, the Bhutanese royal court released two stunning portraits of the monarch’s wife Instagramwhere she poses in a garden.

The Queen, who married her husband in 2011, is a mother to two sons, Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck, seven, and Jigme Ugyen Wangchuck, three.

The Queen recently joined the world’s royal family at the wedding of Crown Prince Hussein and Princess Rajwa Al Hussein of Jordan earlier this week and attended the coronation of King Charles in London with her husband in early May.

In one of her birthday portraits, the mother-of-two can be seen posing thoughtfully in the shade of a tree.

She is wearing an elegant fuchsia jacket with square sleeves and a lighter shade of pink collar.

The discreet king also wears a lavish pair of diamond and ruby earrings and a gold watch for the picture.

Her silky black locks fall straight over her shoulder and the queen appears to be wearing minimal makeup, with just a swipe of eyeliner and a rosy lip for the occasion.

An Instagram post shared on the Queen’s Instagram account said: “On the special occasion of Her Majesty Gyaltsuen’s 33rd birthday, the people of Bhutan extend our unflagging love, admiration and gratitude to our beloved Queen.”

“Our prayers are forever for Her Majesty’s well-being and happiness.”

She recently looked very elegant at the wedding of the Jordanian crown prince earlier this week.

In early May, Jetsun and King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck also traveled to London, where they attended the coronation of King Charles at Westminster Abbey and a reception for foreign heads of state.

King Jigme, the hugely popular fifth Druk Gyalpo, studied in Britain and the US and ascended the throne in 2006, aged just 26, after his own father abdicated.

Unlike his son, who wants a monogamous marriage, the former king, who introduced democracy during his rule in Bhutan, has four wives, all sisters, whom he married on the same day.

But despite his own upbringing, the current monarch has made it clear he only wants one wife, whom he married on October 13, 2011, while she was still studying International Relations at Regent’s College, London.

The match made headlines at the time because the young king showed more open affection for his wife than commoners are used to – which is why the couple was dubbed ‘William and Kate of the Himalayas’.

The Bhutanese king and queen wed in 2011 – the same year Prince William and Kate wed – and have since given birth to two sons.

However, the king’s very public displays of affection – which included kissing his wife on the cheek and holding her hand – resonated well with young people, and many even chose to follow the royals’ example.

The couple have an unusually close family, with the king’s sister and brother married to the queen’s brother and sister.

The Queen’s older sister, Yeatso Lhamo, is married to the King’s brother, Prince Jigme Dorji Wangchuck.

In September, Pema and Jigme were among world leaders who traveled to London to attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey.
