We all need a quick pick-me-up from time to time – and according to a survey, for Brits it’s the closest thing to it is a good night’s sleep.
Brits were asked in a survey which things are most likely to trigger instant happiness – and a top 50 ranking was created from this.
A good night’s sleep was voted the top happiness trigger with 51 percent of the vote, followed by a walk on a sunny morning in second place (48 percent) and a hug in third place (47 percent).
Rounding out the top five were sunny and bright mornings and spending time with friends and family (tie fourth, 46 percent), with the beach coming in fifth on a sunny day with 44 percent of the vote.
The top 10 included sleeping on freshly laundered sheets (7th place, 42 percent), petting a pet (8th place, 39 percent), and finding money in a jacket pocket (9th place, 38 percent).

Hearing someone say “I love you” ranked number 10 (37 percent).

Eating helps too.
Eating chocolate was 10th (37 percent), eating cake 17th (30 percent), and having a Sunday roast with friends was 18th (29 percent).
The poll was conducted by Lindt to mark the launch of its Share the Hoppiness campaign, which offers a chance to win one of ten prizes worth £5,000 if you find a gold winning token in a Lindt gold rabbit.
GP and spokeswoman for Lindt, Dr. Zoe Williams said: “Simple pleasures really lift our spirits. They are the icing on the cake of our lives – and proportionally contribute far more to our well-being than many more expensive delicacies. It is encouraging to see from this Lindt survey that many of the old staples remain our favorites such as a walk in the park, spring flowers and of course chocolate, and Easter time is the perfect moment to enjoy such delights.”
