One video shows drivers getting onto the pavement in front of houses to skip roadblocks, forcing pedestrians to jump out of the way.

Pedestrians were left confused when cars in Southall, west London, carelessly decided to ignore roadblock signs telling them they could not pass.

The road closure is said to be outside Beaconsfield Primary School on Beaconsfield Road.

Alerted locals captured the acts on video, as one clip captures a man denouncing the reckless drivers for refusing to obey signs.

The angry pedestrian tried to get the motorist to reverse the way as he was blocking the way ahead. He stood his ground and waved at the driver until they gave in and turned the other way.

Another shows people moving cones out of the way to make room for cars, vans, and motorcycles to drive through.

The vehicles can be seen in a fixed line, driving illegally along the path – ignoring pedestrians.

Footage from another encounter shows a man in a white van stopping to speak to someone who filmed him.

The driver pointed ahead and said, “I’m just going there.”

In response, the man behind the camera said, “You can’t just drive down the footpath.”

The van driver asks, “What should I do?”

The pedestrian asks him to turn around and choose a suitable route with his navigation device.

Social media users on Twitter were quick to criticize the driver’s unsafe route.

One said, “Isn’t that irresponsible, antisocial, dangerous and illegal driving?”

While a second commented: “The problem is, once a person does it, everyone thinks it’s acceptable.”

The careless motorists are also caught on video after dark as they illegally drive past the road closure

Another wrote: “Don’t these people know what the signs mean?

“If not, they shouldn’t be driving. If you do that, you shouldn’t be driving.’

And another user replied: “Incredible, authorized by motorists, no more, no less.”

Highway Code 145 states: “You MUST NOT drive on or across a sidewalk, footpath or bridleway except to gain lawful access to property or in an emergency”.

The offense carries a fine and penalty points, but if it is classified as negligent or dangerous driving, it can be punished with disqualification, an unlimited fine and even imprisonment.
