The View hosts celebrate Halloween with Disney costumes, marking the entertainment giant’s 100th anniversary

The View co-hosts had fun celebrating Halloween and Disney’s 100th anniversary simultaneously on Tuesday.

For the group’s annual festive episode, Whoopi Goldberg, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farah Griffin each dressed up as their favorite characters from the traditional company.

The show’s executive producer Brian Teta said People“The Halloween show has been a cherished View tradition since the show’s inception and means a lot to our audience.”

The statement continued: “It’s an incredible amount of work, but with everything going on in the world, it’s so important to take a minute and have a little fun – not to mention show off the incredible talent to present to our view crew.”

Some of the hosts even flew to Florida “to enjoy the Magic Kingdom on a trip to Disney World.”

Executive producer Jamie Hammer told People about the work that goes into bringing the characters to life.

“We’ve always said that Halloween shows don’t work if the women don’t care about the costumes, and no one is a clearer example of that than Whoopi,” she explained.

It added: “We usually come up with suggestions for a range of potential characters that we think are connected to the person, but they can choose whatever they want.” And this year, Whoopi was supposed to be the Mandalorian until she came to us and said, “I want to be Barbie.”

Hammer also blurted out: “We searched everything.” [the movie] Toy Story and found out that there is Barbie in Disney and that there is Barbie the tour guide! So in the end it worked. And Whoopi looked great. She carried 40 pounds of hair and carried it effortlessly.”

Meanwhile, Alyssa, 34, portrayed Jasmine from the film Aladdin.

“So I chose Princess Jasmine because it was one of my favorite films as a child. “I dressed up as so many different versions of Jasmine, I did a pink costume, I did the original blue,” she explained.

The former White House adviser added: “She’s the first Arab Disney princess, I’m Lebanese and Syrian, so I liked that.”

For her part, Sarah, 46, was unrecognizable as Carl from the film Up.

Jamie said of her costume choice: “Sara especially loves changing.” She loves Halloween.

“So one of the things we pitched was Carl from Up to Sara, and that was what she chose.” She loves the narrative of the film, she loves the character; Her children knew that.’

Haines concluded: “So she was like, ‘I want to be Carl. That’s it. I want to be Carl.” And I thought, “Well… there are prosthetics and this and that.” And she said, “I’m all in. Complete!”

In total, it took more than two hours for her transformation to fully take place.

There was also Navarro, 51, who wore two different outfits as Mirabel and Isabella Madrigal from Encanto.

“Ana has been a huge supporter of Encanto from the beginning,” shared Hammer. “She’s friends with Lin-Manuel Miranda, she’s friends with John Leguizamo – we had a feeling she’d probably go there, and we were right.”

Sunny, 55, gave her best as she appeared as Neytiri from Avatar.

Director Sarah de la O told the magazine: “Her costume was obviously super amazing. The show team really took it to a new level with their look, I think.”

And Hammer added: “Sunny is very similar to Sara in that she knows that we can always do something really fun and creative. “And it allows hair and makeup to be really creative and do their thing.”

Last but not least, Joy, 81, joined in the fun dressed as Cruella de Vil from Cruella.

‘We [had] “Have fun with Joy in a segment where we took her, Ana and Whoopi to Disney Treasure, a new cruise that’s coming out,” Hammer explained.

“They have this salon where you can interact with ghosts. And if you watch the show, you’ll know that Joy has had her fair share of experiences with ghosts. So if you understand the reference, you understand the joke.”
