“I can’t give you the concert I want to give you. I’ll make sure everyone is okay, get your money back and I’ll do a show for you very soon, but I wanted to come out and apologize personally and not tweet it or post it on Instagram,” he told his fair of assembled fans according to Billboard. “I wanted you to know that I can’t give you what I want to give you. I apologize. I am sorry.’

He added: “You know how much this is killing me. I love you. Thank you very much.’

The Weeknd took to social media later in the evening to apologize to fans for his cut performance.

“My voice cut out during the first song and I’m devastated,” the Canadian star wrote on his Instagram Story. “I felt it go and my heart sank. My deepest apologies to my fans here. I promise I’ll make it up to you with another date.’

The Weeknd’s tour encountered problems early on, starting when he rescheduled it in January to play in more stadiums after it was previously postponed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

When it finally got going in July, the opening show in Toronto was delayed due to a wireless network outage.

The Weeknd will move to many international locations including Mexico, South Asia, Australia and Europe.

While it’s not currently clear why the star’s voice was fading, he could miss more tour dates in the future if this proves to be a serious issue.

Adele famously underwent throat surgery for a vocal cord hemorrhage, and other stars have struggled with frightening voice issues over the years.

The Weeknd has been very busy lately. In addition to the tour, he is releasing a series following a young musician, played by Lily-Rose Depp, who falls in love with the character of The Weeknd, a cult leader. It is titled The Idol and will run for six episodes.
