This Morning viewers are asking Ben Shephard to join Holly Willoughby as permanent presenter as they praise his “natural” presenting style

Ben Shephard’s presenting work on This Morning has been widely praised by fans, who have pleaded with their bosses to hire him as a permanent presenter.

The 48-year-old Good Morning Britain presenter appeared on the show alongside Holly Willoughby on Monday, as the list of co-hosts continues following Phillip Schofield’s unceremonious exit earlier this year.

It is the first time Ben has hosted the ITV daytime program in six years as he usually appears on viewers’ screens earlier in the day on GMB, but fans claimed he was an absolute natural on the show.

Replacement presenters so far have included Friday presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary, as well as Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle and now Ben.

After greeting viewers, Ben spoke about his unusual appearance on the show, saying: “What a lovely joy Holly, thanks for the invitation. ‘I’m on my best behavior.’

Holly joked: “Please don’t behave too well!”

Ben replied: “They (the bosses) told me that I have to behave, that I have to clean up and make sure that I leave the house clean and tidy.”

Holly then noted that Ben was able to sleep in today as the magazine show starts hours after his usual slot on GMB.

He replied, “Three hours of sleep in, are you kidding me?” My alarm went off around 6:30-6:45am. What is that? “My face looks awake, I didn’t need an iron to fix this.”

Holly also joked that Ben was wearing his “Sunday clothes” as he followed the smart casual dress code rather than appearing in a two-piece suit as usual.

Viewers loved Ben’s appearance on the show and said he was “ideal” for a permanent job as a presenter on the show.

One person loved the pairing and said: “Ben Shephard, excellent choice with Holly! Definitely a keeper!”

Another agreed, saying: “Glad to see Ben Shephard co-hosting with Holly this morning. ‘More presentable and didn’t constantly talk over the guests!’
