TLC’s Chilli and Beau Matthew Lawrence started dating AFTER his divorce from ex Cheryl Burke

Earlier this month, they delighted ’90s nostalgia fans with news about their relationship.

But now a source claims TLC singer Chilli, 51, and Boy Meets World actor Matthew Lawrence, 42, only got together after he already split from ex-wife Cheryl Burke, 38.

A source told TMZ that the Dancing With The Stars pro already filed for divorce from Matthew when he and Chilli were dating last year.

According to the insider, Matthew’s conversations with the singer before filing for divorce were strictly platonic.

However, they said the new lovebirds were both acquaintances prior to the breakup of his marriage.

Cheryl filed to end their marriage on February 18, 2022 and she wrote on her filing that the couple had separated on January 7, 2022.

On February 24, 2022, the reality competition star shared a statement on Instagram about the end of their marriage.

“I know I’ve always said I’m an open book with you guys, I strive to be, and writing this made me realize there’s no easy way to announce the end of my marriage,” said she wrote. “I hope you can understand that I will not comment further at this time and ask for your understanding and privacy. Thank you all for all the kind words and support you have given me – love you all.

In a March 6 Instagram post, she continued to talk about the breakup and her new single life.

“I’ve realized that whenever I’m at a point in my life where I’m trying to process major emotions, the best thing I can do is spend some time alone — other than being with myself [my dog] Ysa, of course, but I really feel like she’s a part of me, so she doesn’t count,” Burke said. “To be honest, really feeling my feelings is new to me.”

Burke added that she’s spent her “entire life numbing her feelings up to this point,” and she’s “learning that really living them is MUCH harder.”

“I guess all of this means that the best thing for me was to really experience my feelings, whatever they might be, to be alone for a few days,” she added. “I would really encourage anyone else out there to try and not feel guilty about needing that space.”

Matthew and Chilli reportedly started spending more time together in March last year, about two months after Cheryl told the court she had split from her husband.

The new couple made their relationship official around the Thanksgiving holiday, but the source claimed that Chilli had continued to date other people up until that point.

They also noted that Matthew and Cheryl were no longer living together when the romance started to heat up.

The DWTS pro’s divorce from Matthew was finalized in September, about a month before he and Chilli decided to become a couple.

Since then, Matthew and Chilli have spent the major holidays together, including Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years, with their family in Atlanta, Georgia.
