Tragedy as mum finds her ‘beautiful’ little boy dead in Perth swimming pool

A family whose toddler drowned in their neighbor’s backyard pool had just moved into their new home when they were found floating in the water.

Isaac Powell, just three years old, had been at his new home in Livingston, Western Australia, on December 29 when his mother noticed he was missing.

She began frantically searching the neighborhood, with other residents coming to her aid, before Isaac was found by children in the neighbor’s pool 15 minutes later.

Hello, Mother Zahra performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took him to Perth Children’s Hospital where he was placed on life support for five days but was unable to recover.

His devastated aunt, Ummu Bakri, said her sister had moved to the suburbs to be closer to a school that offered an educational program for the eldest of her two sons.

“She was so excited for the future and as it was her birthday she was trying to organize everything for a family reunion in the new house,” Ms Bakri wrote on Facebook.

“As she was getting ready for the new home, she realized her three-year-old son was missing,” she wrote on Facebook.

“Searching the house and backyard, she couldn’t find him… All she could think was that maybe he’d managed to open the side door to the garage and escape to the street.

Ms. Bakri explained that her sister didn’t even believe Isaac somehow managed to get into the neighbor’s backyard when he searched the street in front of the property.

“Isaac was found dead in her swimming pool by her neighbor’s children,” she said.

His mother then performed CPR and returned a pulse before police and paramedics arrived to take over before he would spend five days in hospital on life support.

“Police investigation revealed that two ColourBond perimeter fence panels were missing, which were visible from the neighbor’s house and hidden behind the garage and were unknown to my sister and husband on their side of the property.

“A tragedy like this was avoidable, and a young child should be safe within the confines of his or her home.”

A GoFundMe page was set up for the family following the tragedy.

“We thought we were launching this page to support you during this difficult time by reducing the stress of having to fund Issac’s final resting place and ministry,” it reads.

“Nobody ever thinks about losing a child and plans to save money for the occasion. So this page is for anyone who is able to fund or support this.

“Any donation, however small, will support her family’s expenses during this difficult time.”
