Two teenage girls, aged 13 and 16, have died after a horrific accident on Mother’s Day that left four others hospitalized, police have confirmed.

The accident, which happened in Disley, Cheshire, in the early hours of Sunday morning, involved a Vauxhall Corsa in which the two girls were traveling.

The driver of that car – an 18-year-old man – was arrested by police on suspicion of causing the death by dangerous driving. He was taken to the hospital for further checks.

The accident happened on the A6 between Light Alders Lane and Carr Brow in High Lane and resulted in the Vauxhall Corsa colliding with a Ford Fiesta.

The Ford Fiesta was being driven by a 20-year-old woman who was taken to hospital with minor injuries.

Her two passengers were reportedly a 21-year-old woman and a 14-year-old boy – both were also taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

After the accident, traffic in the area was incredibly congested as police and emergency services worked at the scene.

Images showed dozens of cars and vans lining up far in the distance.

Police are now asking anyone who may have witnessed the accident or who has CCTV or dashcam footage of the incident to come forward.
