Snipers on the battlefield use grass, trees, and bushes as cover to blend in. They are also known for wearing ghillie suits – a type of camouflage clothing designed to mimic the background environment, such as foliage, snow, or sand. The National Guard offered no leads to help.

In this case, the Ukrainian snipers used their snowy environment to blend them, making them difficult to spot even in these close-up shots — and virtually impossible to see at long range.

Ever since Vladimir Putin ordered the invasion of their country on February 24, there have been several reports of Ukrainian snipers performing extraordinary feats.

In November, Ukrainian special forces released extraordinary footage allegedly showing an elite gunman hitting two Russian troops with a single shot. Including the amazing long-range shot, the sniper was able to take out five of Putin’s troops in just five minutes, sources said at the time.

The shots are believed to have been taken from almost 4,000 feet away – and were reported just days after another Ukrainian gunman claimed to have carried out the second-longest combat death in history.

The sniper claimed to have hit a target at a distance of 2,710 m – about 1.7 miles – also in November.
