Valorant Episode 6 Ranked Rating Changes

Valorant Episode 6 Act 1 will include changes to ranked scoring as Riot Games continues to work to balance wins and losses in Competitive.
After waiting a month for an update, players are eager to explore exciting changes to tactical FPS. The release of Lotus, the return of Split, and the Araxys skins are just a few of the new additions to discover and acquire at launch.
With the new episode, players now also need to start climbing the leaderboard again. All ranks will be reset and players will find their placement rank is lower than their Episode 5 rank. The reset will allow players to level up in the new season and Riot Games may demote inactive players.
Here’s a breakdown of how rankings work in the Valorant update.

Riot Games ensured that RR wins/losses were no longer heavily dependent on game round differentials. Unilateral losses affect a player’s RR less than in previous seasons to create a more consistent system. Now the outcome of the game will have a greater impact on RR, reinforcing the most effective way to climb the ladder: winning games.
RR wins also depend on a player’s individual performance versus round difference. In response to player criticism that RR rewards and penalties are unsatisfactory and inconsistent, Riot will reward good play from a player whose rank is below their MMR. Similarly, if the player’s rank is above their MMR, they will not be severely penalized for a loss as long as they perform well.
With these changes, players will have ample opportunity to start their ascent during the new episode.
