An inmate with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department tried to flee on a Southern California freeway over the weekend.
Video of the incident, shared by ABC 7 on Sunday, shows the moments when the man attempts to climb out of a cruiser window on the freeway.
The unidentified occupant barely squeaks through the window before sitting face-first in the middle of the freeway.
A deputy jumps out of the passenger seat and grabs the handcuffed suspect before the man can run away.
The escape attempt took place in Southern California on Saturday night
The incident happened just before 5 p.m. on December 30 on Interstate 5 in Newhall.
Officials told the local outlet that the inmate was being relocated at the time.
The patrol car was right near the Calgrove Boulevard exit at the time of the incident.
The shocking video shows the occupant hanging from the side of the squad car and trying to wriggle out through a window.
Officials told ABC 7 the man stepped out of the window but was still handcuffed when he attempted to escape.

“Lol he wanted to be out for the last time in 2022,” another person wrote.
“Wow, what a self-Scorpio! The way he flew himself in, all the way down the full weight face slide… just wow. This guy has certainly done this before! A higher leg overhang angle and it would have been near perfection. Nice try 8/10,” said one cheeky YouTube viewer.
