Former Manchester City captain Vincent kompany said he was “very skeptical” of people “pointing the finger” at Manchester City after the club were indicted by the Premier League.
English football was in shock this week after the champions were charged with 115 breaches of the competition’s financial rules following a four-year investigation.
If City are found guilty, they can face a range of penalties ranging from a fine and a point deduction to being banned from the league.
There have been suggestions that they should be stripped of their previous titles, and Kompany doesn’t see much sincerity in those making these kinds of claims.
“There is undoubtedly a lot of justice in the world that comes out and tells you what you did wrong and then when everyone looks at themselves I think the football industry in general cannot afford to deal with too many with that Finger pointing,’ said the Burnley manager.
Vincent Kompany says he is “very skeptical” when people “point fingers at Manchester City”.
“I think you all will have a little smile on your face knowing what the football industry is all about. I’m very skeptical when people start pointing fingers at me.
“Do your best and let’s try to improve all the time, but I’m a bit skeptical when fingers are easy to point.”
City said in a statement: “The club welcomes the review of this matter by an independent commission to consider impartially the extensive irrefutable evidence available in support of its position.
‘We therefore look forward to this matter being settled once and for all.’
