If you’d rather take a bath than a shower, be prepared to splash the cash this year.
The cost of a hot bath will almost double in 2023.
Yorkshire Water claims the average annual price per household will reach £1,023 and families should use showers instead to make savings.
Running a bath was the most expensive domestic water use, according to the company’s study, which showed running baths rose from an average of £303.70 a year in 2021 to £542.88 in 2022.

And energy tariff hikes due in April will take that to £1,023, according to the Teapot Index study.
Yorkshire Water claims the average household could save £700 a year by halving the average shower time to four minutes and switching from three baths to five showers a week.
Spokesperson Emily Brady said: “Managing household water use is a great way to keep bills down.
“The environmental benefits of saving water are well known, but there are also big cost savings when you reduce your consumption – especially when it comes to heating water.”
The study also found that households spent 80 per cent more on boiling their kettles over the past year – up from £10.37 to £18.69.
At the same time, the annual cost of using a dishwasher rose from £133 in 2021 to £237 in 2022, while the cost of using a washing machine rose by 95 per cent to £222.77.
The company said it could save between £66 and £124 a year if you make sure your washing machine is full before you put on a load of laundry.
