We are well-traveled US tourists and thought we had seen it all… but wait until you see the pictures of what we found at our Airbnb when we returned after a quiet dinner in Sydney

A glamorous couple were horrified when they discovered the Airbnb apartment they were staying in was hosting a sexy party – all while they were out for dinner.
Personal items worth thousands of dollars were either stolen or littered, sparking a “nightmarish” six-month battle for compensation with the rental giant.
Jared Manheim and his partner Danielle, who both run a hobby travel site on Instagram where they show off luxury hotels and designer outfits to their 290,000 followers, traveled to Sydney in early March.
Although options were limited during the month-long Mardi Gras festival, they managed to secure a townhouse in the exclusive inner-city suburb of Paddington.

Jared Manheim and his partner Danielle, who both run a hobby Instagram travel page where they show off luxury hotels and designer outfits to their 290,000 followers, were traveling from South Africa to Sydney in early March when the horror unfolded

They returned to their Airbnb townhouse in Paddington, central Sydney, where they discovered evidence of a sex party, including handcuffs (pictured) and “lace panties”.
The property, which was listed under two different listings on Airbnb, was divided into a “commercial” area at the front, which was formerly a glass-fronted cafe, and a “residential” area at the back.
Their hostess informed them that there would be a small gathering of “sophisticated people” in the business room on Saturday evening – the evening after their arrival – and asked if they could scare themselves until it was over at around 11:30 p.m. which was a cause for concern for the couple.

Danielle’s eye mask (pictured) was discovered on the floor, covered in what appeared to be “body fluids”
Jared and Danielle were even more disturbed when, upon checking in, they discovered that there were no locking doors separating the business space from the rooms where they would store their belongings.
“I told the host, ‘This is pretty crazy, it’s just a small residential area, basically like a dorm upstairs,'” Jared told Daily Mail Australia.
“She brushed it aside and told us she was having a demanding meeting the next day.” “We told her we were worried about what might happen because everything was completely out in the open.”
The couple, who both work full-time in finance and real estate, considered retiring and booking a hotel, but ultimately decided to stay due to limited options.
“We ended up barricading the door to the residential area, where no one was supposed to be allowed, before we left that evening,” Jared said.
“But at the end of the night we came back and the house was trashed.”
“It was clear there had been a sex party: there were abandoned handcuffs, lace panties and every inch of every surface was sticky with spilled drinks.”
“When we got upstairs we found that they had broken into our bedroom, looted our clothes and stolen expensive clothes and other items.
“My friend’s eye mask was covered in some bodily fluid.”

Guests at the alleged sex party ransacked the couple’s bedroom and stole items including a $10,000 wedding dress, a $15,000 Chanel handbag, a $2,500 Invisalign brace and a Silver chain worth $750

“Every inch of every surface was sticky from spilled drinks,” Jared said. (Pictured: a supposedly private room that was violated by the sex party guests)
They also found drops of blood in their bedroom bathroom and vomit in another toilet.
The items they stole included a $10,000 wedding dress, a $15,000 Chanel handbag, a $2,500 Invisalign brace and a $750 silver chain U.S. dollar.
The horrified couple contacted police and the host demanding a refund for the night’s stay, which they were reluctantly granted, before leaving the next morning.
But their problems were just beginning.
“We have hosted on Airbnb and have had problems in the past, such as things getting damaged, but we have always done the due diligence and received a payout for the amount that was rightfully owed,” Jared said.
But after their claim for damages and stolen items was forwarded to a third-party insurance platform, they heard nothing for a month.
Until Jared realized that her Airbnb account had been mysteriously deactivated.

The couple, who work in finance and real estate, are embroiled in a six-month battle for compensation with Airbnb
It is understood the couple’s overnight stay on Saturday came about through an off-platform arrangement between them and the host, meaning Airbnb is not liable for any loss or damage as it was not booked through their system.
It is also believed her account was deleted in connection with an incident relating to a separate booking, although it is unclear exactly what happened.
The couple, who stay in Kensington in London when not traveling, believe the error may have been due to them being mistakenly sent a “host” rather than a “guest” form to fill out.
“But Airbnb now seems to have outsourced customer support to people in the Philippines or India,” Jared said.
“No offense to them, but nothing really happens anymore.” They call, they take notes, nothing happens. It’s robotic.’
Jared has called or emailed every few days for the past few months seeking a response to his injury claim.
But every time you get a variation of the same insanely unhelpful response that the review is “complete.”
“Our reservation included a fee to Airbnb which covers insurance. “Theoretically, we paid it into the insurance program and they won’t even give us the satisfaction or opportunity to state our case,” Jared said.
“Now if we presented our case and the third-party insurance company decided not to side with us, that would be different. But we haven’t even had a chance to present any evidence yet.”
In addition to photos, videos and screenshots, the couple has a complaint filed with the New South Wales Police.
“Police are aware of the incident and it is currently under investigation,” a NSW Police spokesman said.
The listing, which Airbnb did not remove after the incident, was subsequently deleted by the host.
Jared added: “Airbnb is a publicly traded company and has shareholders to answer to. “It’s disgusting to me.”
Susan Wheeldon, Airbnb’s country manager for Australia and New Zealand, said: “Our team is focused on driving positive experiences for guests, hosts and the wider community.”
“Airbnb is built on trust.” When guests only stay, pay and communicate on Airbnb, they benefit from our secure processes, refund and support policies.
“In general, hosts who violate our off-platform policy may face suspension or removal from our platform.”
