‘We’ve got Super Tommy Tuchel!’: Angry Chelsea fans chant the name of the former boss – as well as previous owner Roman Abramovich – as Blues supporters lash out at manager Graham Potter after the 4-0 Cup defeat by Man City

  • Chelsea lost 4-0 to Manchester City in Sunday’s FA Cup clash
  • Julian Alvarez, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden all made the goalscoring list
  • The visiting fans showed their dissatisfaction with manager Graham Potter
  • “We have great Tommy Tuchel” chants could be heard in the guest area
  • Tuchel was sacked as Chelsea boss in September and replaced by Potter

Chelsea fans showed their dissatisfaction with manager Graham Potter on Sunday when they chanted the name of his predecessor Thomas Tuchel during their FA Cup game against Manchester City.

The Blues lost 4-0 at the Etihad after a lackluster performance as Riyad Mahrez, Phil Foden and Julian Alvarez came on the scoresheet for the hosts.

Potter’s men have now won just two of their last nine in all competitions and have slipped to 10th place in the Premier League.

Some fans wanted to express their dissatisfaction with the change in leadership earlier this season when they were filmed from the stands in Manchester singing “We’ve got Tommy Tuchel”. Former owner Roman Abramovich’s name was also sung in the away game.

There were also wry shouts of ‘we’ve had a shot’ after a rare shot on goal as the west London side struggled to gain a foothold against an excellent City side.

Potter’s tenure got off to a promising start, winning five straight games from early October, but things have gone from bad to worse since Chelsea lost 4-1 to former side Brighton three months ago.

Alan Shearer was heavily critical of Chelsea in relation to the BBC’s coverage of the game as he said their performance was “unacceptable”. I don’t care how many injuries you have on your team, you can still put in a shift and they can’t.

The Blues are currently without a number of key players including N’Golo Kante, Reece James and Raheem Sterling.

Shearer continued, “That’s nowhere near good enough, no energy. Where’s the movement? They had nothing in advance at all. Everything was sideways or even backwards.’

The win means Manchester City will face either Oxford or Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup, while Chelsea are sidelined and will face Fulham next in the league on Thursday.
