West Ham target Youssef En-Nesyri wants to stay at Seville in January

West Ham’s long-term target Youssef En-Nesyri wants to stay in Spain despite a loan offer for the Sevilla star – with boss David Moyes, under fire, also expected to be sidelined for Lorient’s Terem Moffi in January

west ham have made a new attempt for Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.

The Moroccan is a long-term target for David Moyes, who wants to increase competition among his forwards, but West Ham have talked about a first loan and 25-year-old En-Nesyri has hinted he isn’t ready to leave Spain just yet .

West Ham have also asked for Lorient’s Terem Moffi but are unable to meet the asking price of around £25m. Southampton have already turned down an offer for 23-year-old Moffi, who is also interested from Everton.

David Moyes’ side have long targeted En-Nesyri this January after Sportsmail reported interest in a loan deal last month.

Moyes has come under fire lately over poor form but insists he still has the backing of the board and has admitted the club could dip into the transfer market with his future hinged on crucial upcoming games against Wolves and Everton depends.

The Hammers revisited the Moroccan forward to resolve issues in their toothless attack – but appear frustrated that the player is desperate to stay in LaLiga.

Budgetary restrictions are also proving difficult for Moyes’ side at the moment as they look for credit deals.

The Hammers are 17th in the Premier League – kept out of the relegation zone by goal difference alone – and are in desperate need of goals.

Their 2022-23 tally of 15 is the fourth-lowest tally in the division, despite the signing of Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca in a £30m deal in the summer.

Regular strikers Scamacca and Michail Antonio have only scored five league goals this season and with last season’s star Jarrod Bowen also having a poor season, Moyes will be looking to score the goals that will save his side .

En-Nesyri was an important part of the Moroccan side that reached the semi-finals of the World Cup and scored two goals in seven games, although his tally has fallen sharply at Sevilla since his 2020-21 breakout season.

The 25-year-old is yet to score in LaLiga this season, scoring just five in 2021/22.

Sevilla are in a similar predicament to the Hammers, who are kept out of the relegation zone on goal difference, which could make it much more difficult for West Ham to land one of their leading attacking talents.
