When do FIFA 23 World Cup players expire?

FIFA 23 World Cup players are leaving clubs shortly after being a crucial part of the World Cup update.

EA Sports rolled out a major FIFA Ultimate Team update during the World Cup, featuring numerous promotions and a limited-time event with special World Cup items. These items were tied to a Swaps program where players could earn tokens through Squad Battles and Live FUT Friendlies. Tokens were then exchanged for special WM items, icons or packs. Finally, players who collected WM player items received a special tiered engagement reward.

These bonuses will soon be paid out and World Cup player items will leave the clubs.

WM Player Items and WM Collection rewards will be paid out on January 4th. Players who have used these special red items will need to find replacements when the items expire.

It is important to note that only the WM player items expire. WM promotional items from events such as Path to Glory or Phenoms do not expire. These items will remain in the club for the rest of FIFA 23 and can be traded on the transfer market when they are tradable.

When the WM players expire, the WM Engagement Reward will also be paid out. Players get the level reward they achieved and everything below. So if a player reaches the max level, they get the reward for level 10 and everything else. A nice little coin and pack boost to use during winter wildcards or save for Team of the Year.
