Colorado Mormon dentist James Craig is accused of murdering his wife by poisoning her protein shakes in a case that has shocked America.

Craig, 45, who has reportedly been addicted to pornography since he was young and is said to have planned the murder so he could run off with his orthodontist mistress, was photographed for the first time this week.

How long was Craig married to his wife?

Craig and Angela were married for 22 years, having tied the knot in 2001 when they were both in their 20s. They were both from Kansas but lived together in Aurora, Colorado.

It’s not known how the couple met, but their social media pages paint a picture of the happy couple, who frequently shared shots of them with their children.

In 2016, she praised her husband for helping out with the housework.

A Facebook post read: “How many times has Jim come home from work and looked at the house and obviously looked at me confused.

“See, I’ve been telling him all day how busy I am, but when he comes home, all he sees is me smiling, standing in the middle of a disaster and saying…

“Finally I hung up these pictures. To his credit, he totally gets it and jumps right in to help every time. And that makes him smokin hot!’

Meanwhile, Craig describes himself in his profile as “husband, father, dentist, amusement park junkie, opera lover, soccer fan, chef, fisherman, snowboarder.”

He also described himself as “happily married” to Angela in a 2021 press release.

“They also enjoy visiting theme parks and often travel to Disney, Universal and Sea World,” the press release said.

How many children did they have together?

The couple shared six children. They have five girls – Nora Jane, Mira, Belle, Violet Jo and Cleo – and an eldest boy named Toliver. They are between eight and 20 years old.

Several of the older children, including Toliver, were present at Craig’s hearing on Thursday and sat in silence in the courtroom.

On social media, Angela frequently shared posts from the family at large, documenting birthdays, lunches, spa days and text messages she shared with her children.

In a post celebrating Toliver’s birthday in 2017, she wrote, “Love this crazy life!”

Did the couple ever break up?

Despite the picture of a happy family shared on social media, the Craigs’ marriage was reportedly fraught with trouble sparked by his infidelity, apparent porn addiction and financial woes.

Angela’s sister said she thought about leaving him several times, but he always managed to persuade her. Her sister told officers he had had “multiple affairs” and had been addicted to porn since he was young.

A police report said she spoke about leaving him several times during their relationship.

She adds that she had complained about James “bumping his dental office into the ground” and even gambled away over $2,000 during a trip to Las Vegas.

Craig is said to have drugged Angela about five to six years ago, her sister is quoted as saying in the police report.

Separately, a colleague is quoted in the report as saying the couple had “marital problems,” meaning that some days he would leave work for lunch because of their arguments.

In December 2022, James stated that he wanted to divorce his wife. But he claims she was depressed and suicidal.

Who was Craig’s mistress?

This week, Dailymail.com revealed the identity of Craig’s lover – a Texas orthodontist named Karin Cain, 49.

Cain is in the midst of a divorce from her husband Jason, with whom she shares two children.

She was pictured in a set of medical scrubs and trainers yesterday as she took a lunch break from work.

Cain’s name has been mentioned twice in court documents – although it has been redacted on other occasions.

She emailed Craig on March 16, comforting him over Angela’s illness.

“Hi honey, I’m so sorry about what happened in your world this week. I’m sorry I’m not part of your world to help you more and instead I’m pulling you away,” she said.

“This is so difficult,” she continued. “I want to be and do what I can to support and encourage you and I don’t want to add anything at what is an incredibly difficult time.
