With all this new content to experience, players are wondering why they have to provide their age to access it.

The reason Fortnite asks for your birthday is to ensure that younger players can experience a reasonably suitable environment while playing the game. In a blog post from the Fortnite team, they announced that they would be introducing cabined accounts. These accounts are given to the younger players and require the email address of a parent or legal guardian to be provided.

Once the Cabined accounts are up and running, parents can decide whether or not certain features of the game should be accessible to their children. It’s important to note that obtaining a Cabined account will not result in the loss of purchased content or progress. It’s just a safety precaution that gives parents the ability to filter out any content they deem inappropriate for their children. Once the desired parental settings have been entered, your account will no longer be a Cabined account.
