Why Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban flew home to Australia with their daughters for Christmas

Nicole Kidman and husband Keith Urban are preparing to celebrate Christmas Down Under after flying to Sydney with their daughters Sunday, 14, and Faith, 12, over the weekend.
And this year’s celebrations will be particularly important as it could be one of the last to be spent with Nicole’s mother Janelle, 81, who has been unwell since January.
Insiders say Nicole, 55, is aware that her time with Janelle is limited and plans to make this year’s Christmas celebrations extra memorable.

In October, Keith, 55, told the Daily Telegraph that spending this Christmas with all his family was of the utmost importance.
“My mom just turned 80 and Nic’s mom … who knows how often we celebrate Christmas with someone, but especially with our moms, I appreciate the opportunity to spend Chrissy with them and our family in Aus,” he said.
“Having the kids there is great, but also the extended family because we don’t have family in Nashville, so having all the cousins and aunts and uncles and everyone, it’s just incredible,” he added added.

Both Nicole and Keith have lost their respective fathers, Antony and Bob, in recent years.

Nicole previously opened up about her mother’s health issues in an interview with the Fresh Air podcast in January.
The Oscar winner said they managed to make an after-hours visit to the Art Gallery of New South Wales, where they saw the Matisse: Life & Spirit exhibition, describing it as a “soothing balm.”
“We’re down here mainly to take care of my mom and let her be surrounded by her grandkids,” she said.

Nicole was last seen with her mother at the Being the Ricardos premiere in Sydney last December, when the two women walked the red carpet together
“Although Omicron rampages through this country, luckily we were able to take her to the gallery after hours yesterday and show her the Matisse exhibition, which comes from a mother who raised me in the arts, it was comforting balm. Matisse was soothing balm last night.’
Later in the interview, Nicole said she felt privileged to be able to see the world through her mother’s eyes, describing it as “so comforting.”
“I’m in the place where I get a chance to see the world, because we’re so close my mom gives me a chance to see the world through the eyes of an 81-year-old woman,” she explained .

Although they didn’t pose for photos together, Nicole made sure her mum was well taken care of by lovingly holding her hand while chatting with her
“It’s so beneficial right now because she’s so knowing. She’s got all the brain power available, so she’s not lost. She hasn’t lost her memory, which is fascinating, and she’s extremely intelligent.
“She gives me access because she’s also very direct and very honest, so I get access to the world through her eyes, my mother’s eyes, so a part of me at almost 80.”
She added: “It’s obviously her perspective. There are many different perspectives of 80-year-olds, but it’s their perspective and their particular journey, but I’m drinking it and learning.
