A woman dies in a horror accident after a car fleeing police crashed into the vehicle she was a passenger in
A woman has died in a car crash on the A13 in Dagenham after the vehicle she was a passenger in was involved in a serious collision with a car that was fleeing police.
Essex Police summoned a car to stop on the A13 just after 2.30am this morning but the vehicle did not stop.
Detective Chief Superintendent Andrew Packer, gold commander of Essex Police at the time of the incident, said: “Just after 2.30am this morning, Friday 25 November, a vehicle failed to stop when requested by officers on the A13 in Essex. Officers then stayed close to this vehicle as it traveled on the A13 near Rainham.
“The vehicle was then involved in a serious collision with another vehicle. Despite the best efforts of officials and paramedics on site, a passenger in the second vehicle has now died. We are currently working with our colleagues at the Metropolitan Police Service who are currently leading the response to the incident.
“Where appropriate, we have made a mandatory referral to the Independent Office of Police Conduct, who have confirmed that they will conduct an independent investigation.”
