Woman sues Princess Cruise ships, claiming she was contracted with HIV by an art auction worker on board who ‘raped her in a closet while she was drunk’.

A woman has sued Princess Cruise ships, claiming she was contracted with HIV from an onboard art auction worker who allegedly raped her in a closet on one of the ships while she was drunk.
The woman anonymously filed her lawsuit yesterday over the incident, which she says happened in January 2022.
According to the complaint, the employee, named Aleksandr, did not work for Princess Cruises but for the Park West art gallery company. Park West hosts art auctions aboard Princess Cruise ships.
The then 27-year-old woman says she had been drinking all day when Aleksandr noticed her and lured her into the auction.

She says he asked her for her name and room number, which she gave him. She returned to her room and received a call from him inviting her back to the gallery.
When she returned, she said he fed her more alcohol and then led her up a flight of stairs where he then pushed her into a closet and raped her.
The suit describes how she was too drunk to physically repel him but repeatedly told him she didn’t want to have sex.
She developed “abnormal symptoms” after the incident, prompting her to see a doctor who tested positive for HIV.

“She was 27 at the time of the cruise, she had basically just graduated from school. She works in the medical field and was just beginning her life.
“For her, this horrible incident was horrible in and of itself, but then having the added element of HIV — it’s every human being’s worst nightmare,” her attorney, Michael Winkleman, told The Daily Beast, which obtained a copy of the lawsuit.
The woman is suing Princess Cruises and Park West Gallery, the company that runs the gallery.
Winkleman told the Beast he was seeking “maximum compensation” from the two companies.
