Former X Factor contestant Mitchell Callaway has been charged with the murder of a nine-month-old baby, marking the end of a five-year police investigation.
Callaway, 37, was arrested Thursday morning around 9:45 a.m. at a home in Bowraville, in the mid-north coast of New South Wales.
He was taken to the Macksville Police Station, where he was charged with murder.

Callaway, 37, was arrested at around 9:45am Thursday morning at a home in Bowraville, in west-central New South Wales. He was taken to the Macksville Police Station and charged with murder
On July 23, 2018, emergency services were called to a home in Binnaway after a nine-month-old baby was reportedly unresponsive.
The little girl was taken to Coonabarabran Hospital where she died a short time later despite the efforts of staff and paramedics.
On May 31, after receiving new information, officers investigating the baby’s death issued a search warrant at a home in Binnaway, in the central west of the state.
After further investigation, detectives from the Strike Force arrested King Callaway on Thursday and charged him with murder.

Mitchell Callaway has been charged in the death of a nine-month-old girl (he’s pictured appearing on X-Factor Australia in 2011).
Callaway was a participant in the third season of the television show X-Factor Australia in 2011.
He placed 7th in the competition.
The 37-year-old was denied bail and is due to appear in Macksville District Court on Thursday.
