Xavier Gipson reacts to Jets’ game-winning touchdown against Bills as wide receiver admits ‘energy went down’ after Aaron Rodgers injury

The Jets’ game-winning touchdown on Monday night came from the most unlikely source, as undrafted rookie Xavier Gipson returned a punt for a 65-yard touchdown in overtime.
Gipson did his best to explain the breathtaking moment after the Jets’ 22-16 win.
“I saw the ball in the air,” he told ESPN after the game. “And I saw that I had a chance… I just saw the opportunity and I just took it.”
The receiver admitted that the team was mentally affected by Aaron Rodgers’ shocking injury, which occurred just four games into his first Jets appearance.

The 39-year-old was carted to the locker room after a suspected Achilles tendon injury, with Zach Wilson leading the entire offense.
“The energy was kind of running low,” Gipson admitted.
However, the Stephen F. Austin product recalled thinking afterward, “Let’s win this game for A-Rod.”
The Jets did just that, thanks in no small part to his heroics.
Gipson became a popular figure in this year’s Hard Knocks season when, against all odds, he was named to the Jets’ roster.
“They’re going to do a lot of good things for us this year,” New York head coach Robert Saleh correctly predicted in a comment heartwarming clip from the show.
